The Security Analyst will be responsible for monitoring Advocates’ computer systems, networks, and cloud environments for security issues. They will investigate and document any issues found and install and manage security hardware and software packages. This includes Cisco Meraki networking equipment, Microsoft Windows Server and Workstation operating systems running in an Active Directory environment, and the full range of Microsoft Office 365 and Azure cloud suites. Advocates operates 24/7, and as such there will be occasional “after-hours” work required.

 

This is a hybrid position. Must be located within the New England or willing to relocate to   - MA, NH, RI, CT, ME.

Responsibilities

  1. Review and triage security alerts and identify events that require follow up. Follow up with impacted parties to ensure proper remediation.
  2. Monitor computer networks and systems for threats and security breaches.
  3. Install, configure, and maintain security systems. This includes monitoring software, antivirus, SIEM, IDP packages, firewalls, and other security devices.
  4. Perform research on new and emerging threats, and how to counter/mitigate them.
  5. Assist with evaluating new hardware and software systems to ensure they comply with Advocates’ security standards.
  6. Assist with performing periodic reviews of organization’s overall IT security posture and recommend changes where appropriate.
  7. Assist with penetration testing and vulnerability scanning.
  8. Assist in developing systems and processes for IT security best practices throughout the organization.
  9. Assist in preparing reports on IT security incidents.
  10. Attend and actively participate in supervision and staff meetings.
  11. Attend trainings as assigned; maintain necessary certifications.
  12. Perform all duties in accordance with the agency's policies and procedures.
  13. Adhere to all principles related to the Advocates Way.

 

 

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology, with a preferred focus on security.
  2. Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  3. Ability to research and present information on complex topics.
  4. Knowledge and understanding of Network, Application, and Cloud Systems security.
  5. Knowledge and understanding of basic networking functions such as Firewalls, Switches, Routers, IPv4/6, and DNS.
  6. Prefer knowledge and understanding of Incident Response processes and practices.
  7. Prefer familiarity with Microsoft's on-premises operating systems, and applications such as Active Directory, Endpoint Manager, and Office.
  8. Prefer familiarity with the Microsoft Office 365 ecosystem including Azure Active Directory, Defender for Endpoints, Intune, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
  9. Driver's license and access to operational and insured vehicle.
  10. Strongly prefer candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations.
